FAQs about VAT Refund
VAT-registered persons with zero-rated or effectively zero-rated sales under Section 112(A) of the Tax Code, as amended, may claim a refund or tax credit of unutilized creditable input VAT attributable to such sales. These include:
- Direct exporters;
- Renewable energy companies, with respect to qualifying zero-rated sales;
- Suppliers making zero-rated sales under the Tax Code;
- Other taxpayers whose sales qualify as zero-rated under the law.
VAT-registered persons whose registration has been cancelled due to retirement or cessation of business or because they have become exempt from VAT. They may claim a refund of any unused input VAT that can no longer be utilized against future output VAT, subject to the requirements of Section 112(B).
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has ninety (90) days from the date of submission of the complete supporting documents to process and decide a VAT refund claim.
