Professional Background

Mr. Guillermo took his bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and juris doctor’s degree at the San Beda University (formerly San Beda College). He became a Certified Public Accountant in 2000 and a member of the Philippine Bar in 2007. Early in his professional career, he was an associate auditor at the Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A), one of the leading auditing firms in the country, before taking up law. As a lawyer, he started his career with one of the biggest law firms in the Philippines, ACCRALAW, and became a senior associate lawyer prior to joining multinational corporations as in-house counsel.

As a young lawyer. he was part of the team of ACCRA lawyers who authored the Philippine edition of The Littler Mendelson Guide to International Employment and Labor Law, First and Second Edition. Mr. Guillermo, individually or together with former colleagues, wrote several articles and publications on labor law and employment. He has also conducted various workshops and seminars for Human Resources (HR) practitioners, and was invited as resource speaker for different fora on labor and employment laws and updates, either as an external or in-house counsel. He is also part of the academe teaching labor and employment laws and other social legislations at the Adamson University and previously, with the Universidad De Manila.

As an in-house counsel for more than five (5) years, Mr. Guillermo has developed business acumen that help clients in decision-making taking into consideration the demands of the business and the requirements of the laws and regulations. Mr. Guillermo’s ability to understand the business from his standpoint as a CPA has greatly helped him deliver legal solutions that make business sense.

Throughout his more than two decades of professional career, Mr. Guillermo has developed expertise in the whole gamut of labor and employment law practice, which include local and overseas employment, both land-based and sea-based (maritime), and involving unionized or ununionized establishments. He had handled several collective bargaining negotiations both as a member or advisor of the Management negotiating panel as well as industrial disputes involving bargaining deadlocks, strikes, and lockouts.

Mr. Guillermo is also involved in Corporate and Tax practice which bolsters his capability to deliver legal and business solutions for the Firm’s clients.
