Professional Background

John Stephen P. Quiambao is a Partner and Executive Director at EPEEQ Law.

His specializations include dispute resolution, arbitration, intellectual property, general corporate law, corporate rehabilitation and insolvency, and banking and finance. Stephen has counseled a wide variety of corporations including universal and rural banks, and companies engaged in property development, construction, manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce and business processes outsourcing. Stephen is also involved in family law cases and estates settlement.

Before co-founding the firm, Stephen was a Senior Manager and Legal Counsel at one of the largest and most reputable banks in the Philippines. He also worked as in-house counsel for a telecommunications company that is included in the country’s big three. Prior to gaining experience as a corporate lawyer, Stephen was a Senior Associate at Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila, and an Associate at Batuhan Blando & Concepcion.

Stephen obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the San Beda University, College of Law in 2006 and passed the bar examinations given that same year. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Humanities with Professional Certificate in Industrial Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific, and his primary and high school diplomas from the De la Salle Santiago Zobel School.

Stephen is battle-tried litigator but maintains an upbeat and optimistic approach to legal issues. His solutions are practical, methodical and efficient, always looking for ways to resolve disputes without having to resort to court action. When litigation becomes unavoidable, he proves himself to be a tactical and relentless advocate.

Stephen may be found working on his golf game with friends when he is not obsessively researching creative arguments, strategizing deals or solving his clients’ problems. He also volunteers in a non-profit organization engaged in giving family enrichment courses to married couples.

Stephen is husband to Atty. Leah V. Merida, and father to Isabella and Javier.
